Empowering Youth to Shape a Sustainable Food Systems
The Young Food Systems Ambassador Program at the Asian School of Government (ASG) is a unique initiative designed to engage high school students, college students, young professionals, Barangay Kagawads under 30 years old, and youth leaders in participatory governance around food security, child nutrition, and First 1000 Days initiatives in Philippine cities and municipalities.
Program Objectives
Foster Youth Leadership: Develop young leaders with a deep understanding of food systems and their impact on communities.
Promote Participatory Governance: Encourage youth to actively participate in decision-making processes related to food security and nutrition.
Drive Positive Change: Implement innovative solutions to address food-related challenges and improve the well-being of communities.
Program Components
Training and Capacity Building: Participants will undergo comprehensive training on topics such as:
Food systems and sustainability
Child nutrition and development
Policy analysis and advocacy
Project management and implementation
Community engagement and mobilization
Fieldwork and Community Projects: Ambassadors will work closely with local governments and communities to:
Conduct needs assessments and identify food-related challenges
Develop and implement community-based food security and nutrition programs
Advocate for policies that support sustainable food systems and child well-being
Mentorship and Networking: Participants will benefit from mentorship from experienced professionals and have opportunities to network with like-minded individuals.
